Employees must reside in, and work from, one of the above approved states.The opportunitySouthern New Hampshire University is looking for an experienced and dynamic Principal Salesforce Engineer to lead the design and optimization of Salesforce-based solutions. You will build complex Salesforce applications, guiding a team of engineers, and ensuring that best practices in development and integration are followed. As a Principal Salesforce Engineer, you will use your deep technical expertise to lead innovation, scale our Salesforce ecosystem, and ensure seamless integrations with other enterprise systems. The Principal Salesforce Engineer reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Digital Platforms, CRM. You can work 100% remotely, aligning with our approved working states. #LI-Remote.What You'll Do:

  • You will lead the development of Salesforce solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Develop custom Lightning components, Apex classes, Visualforce pages, and integrations using best practices. Partner with the Architecture & Innovation and Software Engineering teams to lead standards, best practices, and the strategic direction of the Salesforce/CRM ecosystem.
  • You will mentor and provide technical direction to junior and mid-level engineers. Review code, ensure standards, and promote continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • You will design and implement complex integrations with third-party applications, data systems using tools such as MuleSoft, REST APIs, and middleware solutions. Experience integrating Salesforce apps to Enterprise Service Bus(ESB) and security protocols / best practices
  • You will customize Salesforce functionality, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Salesforce's declarative tools (Flows, Process Builder).
  • You will work with partners, product owners, product managers, platform owners, and other engineering teams to gather requirements, assess needs, and provide Salesforce solutions that align with our IT strategy and our goals.
  • You will ensure the Salesforce system is secure, optimized, and maintainable. Write unit tests and maintain a high level of code quality and coverage. Perform regular audits of the ecosystem to assess overall department performance, security, and health. Identify areas for improvement and lead prioritization to ensure critical risks are addressed promptly.
  • You will stay up-to-date with the latest Salesforce features, tools, and best practices.
  • You will evaluate the Salesforce ecosystem and make recommendations for optimizations.
  • You will maintain documentation of code, design decisions, and Salesforce configurations. Share knowledge across teams to promote a culture of learning and new ideas. Contribute to Enterprise Architecture repository of documentation artifacts
  • Other responsibilities as assignedWhat We're Looking For:
    • 10+ years of relevant experience in progressively responsible software development and engineering-related roles
    • 7+ years of experience with Salesforce
    • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I & II, Salesforce App Builder, Salesforce Administrator, or equivalent)
    • Experience in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for custom-developed enterprise software and vendor-provided SaaS solutions
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Agile Frameworks (Scrum/Safe)
    • Expert working knowledge of software architecture principles, assigned applications, integration software, and operating environments
    • Expertise in both front-end (Lightning Web Components, and applying JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for UI/UX development) and back-end (Apex), the Salesforce development
    • Experience with Salesforce declarative tools (e.g., Process Builder, Flows, Validation Rules).
    • Experience with Configuration vs. Code best practices and applying the platform out of the box
    • Experience with Salesforce integrations, including REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, and external data sources.
    • Experience with Salesforce Security model, data modeling, and Salesforce governor limits.

Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
