Job Description Summary The Manager, Systems and Server is primarily responsible for various aspects of IT infrastructure including planning, architecting, organizing, implementing, supporting and monitoring the data center operations, maintenance of all hardware and software and its supporting infrastructure, overseeing the technical infrastructure as it relates to the data center or cloud platforms, desktop and server virtualization, server hardware, e-mail environments and other infrastructure components that provide service capability to the Health System, under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer. This will be a hands-on leadership role that will be involved in planning, will lead various transformative systems and data center and virtualization initiatives (redesign, infrastructure upgrades, new build outs), tactical in nature, that will address the most important challenges including scalability, stability, and an increasingly complex virtual and high performing compute and electronic communications environment. Job Description ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and deliver large scale and complex data center, systems and virtualization project engagements that identify, design, and implement creative business and technology solutions for the organization.
  • Responsible for managing projects, annual maintenance / support agreements, and other operational expenses to budget.
  • Manage relationships with key IT partners, including outsourcing relationships.
  • Involved in the definition of requirements and high level design for implementation of vendor system.
  • Prioritize and schedule work within the Systems and Server team, ensuring all colleagues continue to be professionally developed and no knowledge silos exist within the team.
  • Work closely with senior IT Leadership and internal/external customers to deliver best-in-class systems and storage operations and support, including definition/ongoing reviews of SLA/OLAs.
  • Embrace and/or adopt industry best-practices in IT operations and support processes (e.g., ITIL).
  • Set direction for the team to define and implement new or existing policies and procedures to support the Health System network and telecom requirements.
  • Collaborate with Information Security Officer (ISO) to ensure adherence to information security policies, guidelines and standards are met.
  • Coordinate shift, and on-call resources, ensuring any issues escalated to the team are serviced with in a timely manner.
  • Manage colleagues, including supervision, scheduling, and colleague development, evaluation, and performance management.
  • Architect, implement and support highly available Virtual Server environments (Hypervisor).
  • Architect, implement and support highly available Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
  • Architect, implement and support highly available Data Center and Cloud infrastructures.
  • Manage server administration (user accounts, security policies, compliancy and reporting).
  • Manage procurement, installation/configuration, and maintenance of all server hardware.
  • Present various solutions related to the design, development, implementation, and operations of server and systems, including proactive monitoring, tuning, and upgrades of systems for optimal performance.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, lifecycle, upgrade, and support of systems and data center infrastructures.
  • Provide technical and project management to all systems and server initiatives ensuring their successful completion.
  • Author and review business cases, requirements, SOWs, RFPs, and other system acquisition artifacts.
  • Ensure maintenance of systems and server infrastructure software, firmware and operating system updates.
  • Provide technical expertise as an escalation point for the Systems and Server Team.
  • Deliver and report on metrics to assess capacity of systems / server operations and service levels.
  • Assess, communicate, and prioritize operational risks to systems and server services.
  • Responding to inquiries from colleagues, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors, to provide technical assistance and support.
  • Troubleshooting systems hardware and software applications, data center and hybrid cloud systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
  • Other duties as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education - Preferred Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or other technical field preferred. Incumbents who not hold degrees may qualify if they have achieved applicable certifications and/or requisite work experience in training. Minimum Work Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated success and progressive experience in leading key enterprise systems and virtualization environments (architecture, infrastructure, technology support experience, preferably in healthcare environment)
      • 2 - 3 years demonstrating progression in Leadership and management experience.
      • Experience managing, implementing and administering Enterprise IT data centers, systems, servers and related infrastructure in a Healthcare environment. Required additional Knowledge, and Abilities
        • Certification in OS and Virtualization technologies (Windows, Linux OS administration, Microsoft platform administration technologies, server and desktop virtualization technologies). Microsoft (MCSE), VMware (VCP), Citrix (CCEA/CCEE/CCIA) are preferred.
        • ITIL, Lean, or Six Sigma Training or experience preferred.
        • Demonstrated success developing and leading a high performance IT team, and raising the maturity level of the function.
        • Advanced knowledge and experience with VMware ESX/vSphere and Citrix virtualization products and hypervisors.
        • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Redhat Linux, Exchange Server, and Active Directory infrastructure.
        • Advanced knowledge and experience with data center class, hardware server equipment, including Cisco UCS or HP server blades.
        • Advanced knowledge of data center technologies and environments, including data center UPS systems, and F5 or Citrix NetScaler load balancers.
        • Experience with use of application, system, and other performance analysis and monitoring tools.
        • Strong communications skills including the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with project teams and key clinical stakeholders, including business services, nurses and physicians.
        • Flexible team player with strong project management and organizational skills with ability to establish and achieve goals and maintain timelines.
