Job Description SummaryAs a skilled and compassionate Registered
Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality
patient care on our Med-Surg unit at South Shore Health. Your
expertise will be essential in managing individualized,
outcome-oriented nursing care through the use of the nursing
process.Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Administration
- Administer medications safely and accurately, adhering to SSH
policies and procedures.
- Complete medication reconciliation processes to ensure patient
safety.
- Document narcotic administration and disposal according to
policy.
- Plan of Care/Documentation/Patient Family Centered Care/Patient
Experience
- Develop and communicate a prioritized problem list/plan of care
for each patient.
- Assess and document patient/family/significant other teaching
needs upon admission and throughout hospitalization.
- Continuously assess and reassess patient care needs,
documenting outcomes and interventions.
- Document all patient care according to department of nursing
policy, unit-based standards, disease processes, and
nurse-sensitive indicators.
- Safety/Quality - Foster's a Culture of Safety
- Verify patient identification with two identifiers prior to
invasive procedures.
- Comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and universal
precautions.
- Ensure a safe environment, adhering to regulatory
requirements.
- Professional Development
- Assume responsibility for own professional development,
incorporating evidenced-based practice and research.
- Practice within the legal boundaries of the MA Nurse Practice
Act.
- Display critical thinking skills, analyzing problems and
selecting appropriate solutions.

- Access Lotus Notes and software applications required by
department and unit standards.

- Work within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards relevant
to the position.

diverse populations.Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred
- Required Licenses/Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse, Basic
Life Support (BLS) Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) Certification, Emergency Response Training Certification,
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, Pediatric
Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC),
Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) Certification may be
required
