Description: The RN develops an overall view of patients, families,
and caregivers. The RN establishes strong partnerships to deliver
optimal care. Essential duties and responsibilities include a
thorough knowledge of complex/critical care medication infusions.
The RN must demonstrate proficiency in titration management.
Enhanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, especially cardiac,
is required. Experience with emergency cardiac interventions is
essential. The RN provides an in-depth history and medication
review of all patients scheduled for procedures. This ensures
patient safety peri-procedure. The RN must correctly identify
periprocedural safety issues and report them accordingly. The RN
demonstrates expertise in creating and maintaining a sterile field.
The RN plans and provides equipment and supplies based on procedure
and physician needs. Participation in on-call assignments is
required. Flexibility to cover staffing as needed is essential. The
RN must be within a 30-minute radius when on call. The RN must
safely administer procedural sedation and pass the annual sedation
examination. Documentation of sedation must adhere to policies and
procedures. The RN maintains a safe working environment, including
radiation safety and appropriate personal protection attire. The RN
demonstrates criteria for arterial and venous sheath removal. A
working understanding of guidelines for safe sheath removal when
patients have received blood thinners is necessary. The RN must
identify criteria for equipment such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
(IABP) and IMPELLA. The RN assists the physician with setup,
insertion, and maintenance of equipment as needed. Additionally,
the RN assists with the insertion of Flow wire, Opsens, and IVUS.
Demonstrating contraindications and reversal for IV adenosine
infusion is required. The RN should have a working knowledge of
hemodynamic waveforms. Monitoring arterial waveforms during left
heart catheterization is essential. The RN must identify damping
and ventriculization of arterial waveforms. Correct identification
of different hemodynamic waveforms during right heart
catheterizations is also necessary. Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge is
preferred or required prior to orientation completion. CPI training
is preferred or to be obtained within six months of hire. Advanced
CPI training is required for specific departments within six months
