The Residential Counselor is a direct service position. Counselors ensure the safety and wellbeing of the adolescents of the program. This position is responsible for carrying out the programming, activities, and therapeutic groups of the program. Program adolescents are often in great personal turmoil when they arrive. Counselors offer support, guidance, and structure to help the adolescents regain stability in their lives.

What you will be doing to make a difference---

• 
  
• Able to stay awake throughout the entire shift
  
• Conducts and records bed checks as specified by the program
  
• Ensures all youth are accounted for throughout the overnight shift
  
• Supervise and maintain the safety of adolescents between the ages of (INSERT AGE)
  
• Delivers services in a culturally competent manner
  
• Participate in on-call schedule/responsibilities as required by program
  
• Supports youth with developing daily living skills
  
• Implement as required interventions associated with treatment and service plan goals
  
• Participates in de-escalation and physical interventions of youth when required
  
• Drives youth to school, appointments, and other activities as assigned
  
• Attendance must be regular, reliable, and punctual
  
• Implements and adheres to the behavioral support system of the program
  
• Acts as a positive role model for youth and coworkers, treating them with respect, dignity, understanding and fairness
  
• Dispenses medication in accordance with proper protocol, policies and procedures

    Full Time; Wednesday - Saturday 11p-7a
    .Requirements:
    Credentials/Qualifications
    
    • 
      
    • Bachelor's level degree in Human Services field or related field preferred but not required
      
    • 1 year experience working with adolescents is preferred
      
    • Residential experience preferred
      
    • Experience with systems (e.g. DMH, DCF) preferred
      
    • Additional languages desirable, though not required
      
    • Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPI physical interventions, and de-escalation techniques
      
    • Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPR and first aid
