Job Description About the role:We are looking for an experienced Scientist I/II with expertise in liver diseases, viral/non-viral gene therapy and gene editing for rare diseases. You will be part of a Pathway Sciences team in the Rare Disease Drug Discovery Unit focused on developing novel genetic solutions for rare liver indications.Join Takeda as a Research Scientist I/II, Rare Disease DDU , based in Cambridge, MA. How you will contribute: ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Draft and build research plans for generating preclinical data package to support Go/No-go decisions.
  • Develop and troubleshoot disease/ target specific cell-based, biochemical and functional assays supporting proof of mechanism with novel approaches in liver gene therapies.
  • Collaborate across Takeda's research infrastructure and also work with external KOLs or research partners to accelerate programs to essential milestones.
  • Provide technical guidance to other members of the team and DDU.
  • You will engaged in hypothesis generation, establishing early proof-of-concept and managing parallel workstreams across partner lines within the project team.Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
    • PhD in Hepatology, Biology, Genetics/Genomics, or related fields with 2+ years of experience in liver diseases, gene therapy/gene editing and viral/non-viral delivery vectors or MS with 8+ years or BS with 10+ years of relevant experience.
    • Experience with in-vitro and in-vivo liver models using Primary human hepatocytes, hepatic cell lines, humanized liver models, gene delivery to the liver.
    • Experience with novel gene delivery and gene-editing modalities.
    • Experience working within teams and performing studies working with CROs or partners.
    • Enthusiasm to work on novel technologies.
    • Experience providing simultaneous contributions to multiple programs.
    • You will have in-depth understanding of liver biology, hepatic cell models and several aspects of viral/non-viral delivery, functional and phenotypic assay development and completing studies in disease relevant models to support preclinical data package.What Takeda can offer you:
