OBJECTIVE The Greenhouse Department Manager is responsible for the
quality, vitality and appearance of all aspects of the greenhouse
areas. This includes but not limited to annuals, tropicals,
houseplants and herbs/veggie products to ensure they are
merchandised in accordance with company standards. The continual
assessment, evaluation and placement of inventory is required to
make informed recommendations on product replenishment in support
of the product line buyer and support the General Manager with
product replenishment. The Greenhouse Manager will also be
responsible in coordinating staffing and scheduling needs with the
Operations Manager in order to effectively and efficiently conduct

Coordinate staffing and inventory needs with Operations Manager to
efficiently and effectively receive product, execute displays and
conduct floor moves related to the department Build employee and
customer relationships through routine interactions, product
trainings and the transfer of department specific knowledge and
usage to answer questions and inquires Maintain the health,
vitality and appearance of all department inventory including
annuals, tropicals, houseplant and herbs/veggies in accordance with
company standards Maintain and communicate all administrative tasks
and documentation related to department needs including seasonal
staffing needs, accurate receiving of product, and all other
documents and procedures needed by the Inventory Control Associate
including the proper recording of product movement Routinely
communicate department trends and recommendations to the General
Manager to help make informed purchase and product replenishment
orders Utilize the point of sale (POS) system to accurately review
inventory levels as well as support all store associates facilitate
register transactions including but not limited to sales, returns
and customer deliveries Effectively utilize the space of the
department to produce improved displays and make recommended floor
moves and product placement ideas to the General Manager,
Merchandising team and Company Buyers Develop and communicate
department specific directives to associates to ensure the movement
and display of department specific inventory in an effective and
timely manner Support associates in the movement of department
specific inventory through the unloading of trucks Assist other
Department Managers with special tasks and functions as directed by
store management COMPETENCIES Leadership and Coaching Written and
Verbal Communication Maintenance of Productive Team Relationships
Strong Work Ethic Well Organized Problem Solving Skills PREFERRED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum of 3 years of progressive
responsibility in Garden Center or related retail store operations
required. Associate's degree or higher in horticulture, agriculture
or other related field and 2 years' experience working experience
in the horticultural or garden center required. Demonstrated
project management skills with the ability to hold self and others
accountable for high-quality, timely and effective results. Working
knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in an active retail store
environment. This job may be either indoors or outdoors or both.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are

performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
This job regularly requires the employee to lift and/or move up to
